This document offers guidance for artists and arts organisations on safe guarding children, young people and vulnerable adults. It identifies the needs of children, young people and vulnerable adults. It outlines good practice including Continued Professional Development, managing sensitive information, planning projects etc. It outlines procedures for risk assessment, reporting incidents, recognising abuse and demonstrates guidelines for the artist and what they are responsible for. Delivering a safe environment and nurturing dance sessions is paramount to Learning Curves and this document outlines our concerns which we address in every dance session.

Providing the Best (2006). Arts Council England.

This document published by the Arts Council serves as a tool to affirm good practice. It acts as a checklist for private sector dance schools such as Learning Curves Dance to ensure quality dance sessions. It outlines characteristics of high quality arts experiences such as inspiring and exciting young people, providing opportunities for children and promoting equality. Learning Curves Dance endeavours to meet these guidelines for quality dance sessions and frequently reassess' it sessions against these guidelines.

Keeping Children Safe in Education (2015). Department For Education.

This document is published by the Department For Education for good practice within schools. It serves as a reminder of the standards expected by schools and is most useful when Learning Curves Dance Instructors are working within the school system. PPA classes, lunchtime clubs and before and after school classes are all assessed against these guidelines.
