Loud, lively and will keep the whole room moving!
Born in Bury, Lancashire, from the age of 4 Toni was dancing Tap and Foxtrot and took 3 IDTA Rosette Examinations. When she was 8 Toni attended her first Learning Curves class at Knowle Primary School. She loved to perform in assemblies and before moving onto Arden, Toni joined our Wednesday medal classes…and as they say, the rest is history!
Toni went from classes to medal exams to dance shows (and all the rest in between) realising that she was doing something she really loved! Lian noticed Toni’s talent in dance when she asked her to join the Mardi Gras team in 2005 where she danced at many prestigious venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham’s Symphony Hall and later Sadler’s Wells where she assisted Jennie in the production and staging of the JEMz Contemporary Mardi Gras Team!
Toni’s first interest in teaching began at our dance and drama performing arts holiday workshop in February 2006. She then continued to be a demonstrator for holiday clubs thereafter, not only enjoying the hectic 3 days but also taking part in the preparation that goes on behind the scenes. In 2007, Toni was awarded the honour of being ‘Miss Learning Curves’ which was cut short when she moved over the Atlantic to the USA. She joined a number of different dance schools throughout her time in South Carolina and although none could compare to that of Learning Curves she did not let this stop her true passion to perform! She was a member of her high school Step-Team and also part of the ‘Lady Falcons’ dance team. She also co-choreographed many routines that were part of the schools termly productions including “The Jungle Book”.
Lian professionally trained Toni in her gap year where she took her love of teaching to the next level. Passing her IDTA Associate examination with Honours (90%). This made all the time and hard work worth it and she was even examined by the president of the IDTA, Dawn Parker!
Toni has also gained her Level 4 Coaching Qualification in Cheerleading! So she can now bring her American influence to Learning Curves classes! Well Done Toni!
Now at the University of Coventry doing a BA Hons degree in Business & Marketing, Toni has the best of both worlds and still continues teaching which is what she loves!
